Watershed Model in a Classroom

EDUCATION and outreach

MMSD offers outreach resources and programs to educate the public on everything water and MMSD related.  In addition to providing tours of Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility, MMSD participates in educational events in the community, giving presentations and activities.

To help you plan experiences for your group, MMSD developed a guidebook, Water Journey, to serve as a ready reference of MMSD’s offerings. Water Journey organizes MMSD’s educational resources and programs into five modules:

  • An Overview of Water and MMSD,
  • Conveyance, Wastewater Treatment and Water Quality,
  • Flood Management,
  • Green Infrastructure, and
  • Careers in Water.

These activities are suitable for a range of ages and available on various platforms. MMSD partners with local environmental education groups to provide opportunities for youth to learn about water and water quality protection.

More information about MMSD’s resources and programs is detailed below.
